Submission deadline is 20th April 2018. Abstracts submitted after the deadline will not be considered. Abstracts can be submitted online when submission system opens 20th February 2018. After the reviewing process, authors will be notified about the acceptance of their Abstract until 31 May 2018 the latest.
Abstracts can be submitted in two categories: a. Scientific Abstract (including scientific work to be submitted to the Poster Session; b. Professional Practice Abstract (including practice contributions submitted to the Poster Session). For an Abstract to be reviewed and considered for presentation during the conference the following guidelines must be adhered to:
- Length: the overall length of an Abstract has to be between 600 and 800 words, excluding author names (see below) and references (maximum 6 references).
- Text only: Abstracts should include text only, i.e. images (pictures, figures, and tables) are not accepted.
- Title: use a brief title to clearly indicate the nature of the research/project/contribution; capitalise the first letter of each word; do not use abbreviations in the title.
- Author names: Abstracts should include the names of all authors, their institutional affiliation, and the e-mail addresses of all authors (these will be removed for the review process).
- Language: Abstracts have to be in English and follow the APA formatting and style guide (see http://www.tandf.co.uk/journals/authors/style/reference/tf_APA.pdf).
- Format: Times New Roman, font size 12, single line spacing, and no use of text design features.
All Abstracts should be structured using the following sections ** ***:
- Aim (plus research questions for a Scientific Abstract)
- Theoretical background and literature review (Scientific Abstract); or purpose and background (Professional Practice Abstract)
- Research design, methodology and data analysis (Scientific Abstract); or design and implementation (Professional Practice Abstract)
- Results/findings and discussion *
- Conclusion, contribution and implications *
- References *
* In case that the results/findings for a Scientific Abstract are not yet available at the time of Abstract submission, authors have to mention this by guaranteeing that they have the results by the time of the conference. They should provide a preview of the nature of the results/findings as well as envisioned contribution/implications. Authors of Professional Practice Abstracts can collapse 4. and 5. into a description of outputs/outcomes as well as a reflection on and the future of their project. References may not be required.
** The above-mentioned structure should only be altered if clearly justified by the nature of the submission and contribution (e.g. conceptual work).
*** Authors intending to submit into the Parallel Session ‘Sport Management Education’ should note that different types of contributions are possible for this track. Yet, it is likely that they will be concerned with scientific/empirical research in the wider area of sport management education; or that they are concerned with innovative approaches to curriculum development, learning environments and (higher) education management/policy. Please be very clear in section “1. Aim” of your Abstract where your paper belongs to. Also, please keep in mind that your Abstract should not be a sales pitch for a certain program, but rather a discussion of ‘best practices’ and sharing learnings that other members of the EASM community may find inspiring and useful.
Abstracts not complying with the Abstract Submission Guidelines provided on this page will bounce back and authors will be asked to resubmit.
Please note the following important conference policy:
- Author restrictions: maximum of 1 paper first-authored and 2 papers co-authored.
- Presenter restrictions: maximum of 2 presentations per participant; at least one author must have registered by 10th July 2018 in order for the presentation to be added to the conference programme and Book of Abstracts.
